Handmade in Pakistan · Shipped to the US

A karkhana built for 2027.
Not 1947.

This craft is older than the border that split it. It's time it crossed another one.

Folded rilli quilts and block-printed cloth in a sunlit Pakistani workshop

Not souvenirs

Signatures.

A souvenir is proof you went somewhere. A signature is proof someone made something. What sits in these Houses is not airport craft produced by the thousand for tourists who will forget the name by the time they land. It is the work of people who have done one thing their whole lives, at a standard that took three generations to reach, priced as though that were true.

We do not sell "ethnic". We sell a specific quilt, stitched by a specific woman, over a specific eleven weeks.

How it works

01

Every House keeps its own name

Each startup on Karkhana is a House with its own founders, its own story and its own standards. Nothing is white-labelled into a house brand. You always know whose hands made the thing you bought.

02

One cart, one checkout

Buy from four Houses in a single order. You pay once, here, in US dollars. No redirects to other websites, no separate logins, no wondering whether the payment page is legitimate.

03

It ships from the maker

Orders leave from the workshop that made them, not from a warehouse in New Jersey. That means 10 to 18 business days, and it means the margin goes to the House instead of a distributor.

Origin

The craft never needed saving. It needed a market.

For seventy-odd years the story told about this work has been a rescue story. Dying arts. Vanishing traditions. Artisans to be preserved, the way you preserve fruit. It has always been the wrong story, and it has always paid badly.

The truth is simpler and less flattering to everyone involved. The skill never went anywhere. The demand was never allowed to reach it. Between the woman stitching a rilli in Umerkot and the person in Chicago who would happily pay what it is worth sat four middlemen, a wholesale price, and a border drawn in 1947 by people who had never seen either of them.

Karkhana is a workshop, which is what the word means. Jugnuu incubates the Houses, the Houses keep their names and their margins, and this is the shopfront where the work finally meets the person who wanted it. No rescue. Just a fair price and a shorter line.
